Last Thursday, there was a concert in the courtyard at the school here. I got to listen to this great band for about an hour completely free. Their name is 424 and I think it's a pretty popular Costa Rican band.
Thursday afternoon, I went to a talk about tropical plants. It was completely in Spanish and geared towards the architecture students at Veritas, but there were enough pictures of beautiful plants to keep me following along. Friday, I had my first grade of the class. It was a 20 minute presentation all about Guatemala and it went pretty well.
This weekend I saw my first volcano. Our group went to the Volcano Arenal which is very close to the town La Fortuna. I was very sick on Friday and the ride there was not fun. Luckily, I was able to get in the natural hot springs shortly after arriving and felt much better when we did.
Saturday morning, I rode a horse with a group of about 20 people on very steep muddy trails. I got a horse named "Morena" who loved to trot. It was fun watching three of my friends ride horses for the first time, but I think they were at least a little terrified.
Saturday afternoon, I returned to the pools and hot springs before going to a discoteca that night with my classmates. I danced to salsa. That's a good thing because my teacher assigned a new presentation topic for each of us and now I will be teaching my classmates how to salsa on Wednesday.
Sunday morning, we went to a waterfall where I got to swim.
Today, I went to class and went shopping at Pequeño Mundo [Small World] for some clothes which was fun. Of course, the most exciting part of today is becoming an aunt and I look forward to talking to my family tonight. [Cough*Cough*Hint*Hint]

Our family is not very good at taking hints about communication. I will make sure to pass on any information I know (which you'll probably get at the same time). Congrats aunt carly!

Wow! Congrats Auntie!! Is this your first time being an aunt? It is soooo fun! You get to spoil them, play with them, and when they start to cry you can return them! LOL But no really, it's awesome!
