The Beginning of the End

I just got home from a fantastic weekend at Monteverde. I've been very busy since my last post and hope that the next 5 days will also be filled with adventure.

Our tour guide explaining how coffee is grown in Costa Rica

Thursday morning, I went on a coffee tour at Doka Coffee Plantation. This is where Starbucks buys a lot of their coffee beans. I learned about how coffee is grown and processed. That afternoon, I went to the Insect Museum which was also fun. Thursday night's attempt to go to a play was unsuccessful, but we still had a fun evening of shopping and going to Pops (the most popular ice cream store in Costa Rica.) I plan to go to the play this Thursday now that I know what to do (aka reserving tickets and going to the back of the building.)

Friday, I was supposed to go to the National Museum (again) and the artisan market. Unfortunately, one of my classmate's credit card got stuck in the ATM at school and we had to wait for bank officials to arrive and return it to her. Friday afternoon was spent driving to Monteverde up mountains and through lots of forest.

Saturday morning, I woke up and felt a slight earthquake as I lay in bed. Then, I went zip-lining* through the treetops of Monteverde. The adventure ended with a Tarzan Swing which I cannot even describe. [Video to come.] I finished the day with a 2 hour hike through a cloud forest and a quick trip to the pool.

This morning I woke up to a beautiful rainbow. I enjoyed breakfast with friends and just hung around the hotel until we drove back to San Jose. Tomorrow is a holiday here and I will fill you in about that later. On July 30, I will be sad leave Costa Rica but I can't wait to get home and see my family, boyfriend, and nephew (in no particular order.)

*Pictures to come
