1 Week Down, 3 to Go

This weekend our group went to the beach and had a lot of fun. I spent the entire day outside on Saturday and got pretty burnt as a result. (Yes, I did put on sunscreen, but only twice.) One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing the sunset from a boat on the ocean. Our group even had an impromptu dance while on the boat which I'd like to take some credit for starting :)

Yesterday, my friends and I went to the art museum. That was alright. We were glad it was free because it turned out to be mostly under construction. Then, we continued walking in the pouring rain to look for a store which we didn't find. We just looked at some clothes and got a little lost. The good thing about getting lost here is that a taxi is never very far away and when you get in the taxi they know how to get you home.

This afternoon, I will attempt to buy groceries for my lunches for the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sound really good.

I am really starting to feel like I can speak the language. I think I have proven that I deserve to be in the class that I am in. This Friday, I will have my first graded assignment of the class. It is a presentation about Guatemala. I am optimistic that, if I work at it, I can be fluent by the time I go back to the States. I'm really missing my family and boyfriend this week so far. I think that by the end of the trip I will be equally sad to leave and ready to get home.
